Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. -Anonymous
My name is Lindsay and I am currently attending St. Norbert College majoring in Early Childhood Education and minoring in Spanish. I am studying these topics because I hope to one day teach a bilingual kindergarten classroom. I have looked forward to becoming a teacher since I was in the first grade, I even had my parents create a "classroom" for me in our basement where I spent hour after hour teaching to my make believe class. I can't wait for the realities of having a real classroom with real children! I have chosen to teach the lower level grades because I want to be the one who gets to give these children the foundation on which to grow from throughout the remainder of their lives.
When the opportunity to student teach abroad, I couldn't say no. I have never been outside of the country and I've always wanted the chance to put my Spanish speaking abilities to good use. I'm very much a homebody, so this is definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I don't want to look back at my college career and regret not taking this amazing opportunity to challenge myself and my own limitations. |
